Forklift chassis maintenance cannot be ignored!

Forklift chassis maintenance cannot be ignored! The focus is on these four aspects:

Generally speaking, the maintenance and upkeep of forklift chassis is often regarded as dispensable by people, far less valued than forklift engines and gearboxes. In fact, whether forklift chassis accessories are properly maintained directly affects the safety, handling, and other key performance of forklift operation, and cannot be taken lightly.

So, what aspects should be paid attention to when maintaining the forklift chassis?

1、 Maintaining the tires on the forklift chassis is crucial. Firstly, it should be noted whether the forklift is using solid core tires or pneumatic tires. The pressure of the pneumatic tires is too high, which can easily cause the tires to burst; When the pressure is too low, the resistance increases, and the fuel consumption correspondingly increases. Also, check the tire tread pattern frequently for sharp nails, stones, and broken glass to avoid puncturing the tire. If the pattern on the tire surface is worn to a certain extent, it is necessary to replace the tire in a timely manner. Usually, when the pattern is worn to only 1.5 to 2 millimeters, a specific mark appears on the tire. Different tire brands have different marks, but they are all explained in the manual. At this point, the tire needs to be replaced. But if the user is using solid core tires, which saves a lot of trouble, as long as the tires are worn to a certain extent and replaced with new ones.

2、 Timely check all important accessories of the forklift chassis. For example, the differential, transmission shaft, braking system, and steering system of forklifts, on the one hand, it is necessary to strictly follow the time regulations in the forklift user manual, regularly check and maintain or replace the gear oil of the forklifts, and on the other hand, it is also necessary to conduct self inspection and observation. In daily use of forklifts, forklift drivers can check for oil leaks and other issues while the forklifts are parked, and listen for any abnormal noises during use.

3、 Regularly check the chassis of the forklift for oil leakage, steering oil pipes, and steering cylinders. The steering axle should be lubricated regularly, and the flat bearings and needle bearings should be checked for damage or lack of oil.

Regularly check the wear of the brake pads and clutch pads of forklifts. Both brake pads and clutch pads are consumables in forklift accessories, which will wear out and lose their original functions after use for a period of time. If not replaced in a timely manner, it can easily lead to loss of control or accidents.

4、 Nowadays, most forklift brake pad manufacturers use adhesive method to connect the friction pads to the steel back, and it is not until the friction pads are ground to the end that the metal and metal come into direct contact before making a sound. At this point, it may be a bit late to replace the forklift friction pads. When there is still 1.5mm left on the friction plate through visual inspection or measuring, the forklift friction plate should be replaced directly. When replacing the brake pads of a forklift, it is necessary to check whether there is oil leakage or other issues with the brake cylinder and half shaft oil seal. If so, please replace them in a timely manner to avoid unexpected situations such as brake failure during forklift operation.
